The Miracle Dog
By: Makenzy C.

Jessica Servy had always wanted a dog. A golden retriever to be exact. Well, let me tell you more about Jessica. She has long, brown hair. She has just enough freckles. She wasn’t the girlie girl type. She almost never wore skirts or dresses. Her favorite place to go was to a body of water. The lake, ocean, river, or stream. The next week they had gone to the river. Her family was camping in a tent beside the river. At 12:00, noon, she went out to ride her bike around. When she was at her “turning point” she thought she saw a dog behind a tree. “It wouldn’t hurt to go look.” She told herself. So with that, she went over to the tree where she thought she saw the dog, but, to her surprise, nothing was there but leaves, sticks, and, of course, some trees. So she decided to ride along the river on the way back. It was beautiful and—
She fell in!! the current was way too strong for her to get back on the land. She yelled and yelled for help but nobody could hear her. Then all of a sudden a dog came over to where she was. She was scared she was going to fall! She was crying so much that she couldn’t make out what kind of dog it was. She did, however, see the dog jump into the water. He didn’t fall in, he jumped! He tried so hard to swim to her. Jessica reached out and grabbed his collar. The dog started to swim towards the land. Jessica still didn’t let go. The dog pulled and pulled and he finally got her to the land. The dog had saved her life!! But then she saw that it was her turn to save him. He was so tired and weak that he couldn’t come on to land too. Jessica stood up and grabbed his collar again. She pulled and pulled with all her strength. Her hand slipped and the dog fell back in. farther than he was before. Then she finally saw what kind of dog he was. He was a golden retriever!! A really cute one at that! she had to get him out! She got back into the river, far enough where the current couldn’t pull her in, and she was so close that she was able to put both hands on his sides and pull him. He swam and swam to her to try to help and make it easier. It was working!! They both then got back on the land and they both were safe. She hugged the dog and started to pet it. She saw he had a tag on his collar and she read it:
Name: Rocky Owners name: Ben Rawley 2315 Oakveiw Road
So that meant he already had an owner. That meant she couldn’t keep him. “Rocky! There you are boy!” A man came running towards them. “Hey kid! Thanks for looking after my dog! Tell me, why are ya’ll so wet?” the man asked. “Well, sir, I fell in and your dog saved me” she responded back. “Good dog!!” he said petting Rocky. “What tent are you in?” he asked. “143” Jessica told him. “May I speak to your parents?” he asked. Jessica nodded and they all walked toward her tent. When they got there Ben and Jessica told about the dog saving her life. Then she heard him say, “Please mom? Please dad?”she begged. “oh alright” her parents said. Jessica finally got the dog she had always wanted. Her life was pretty great after that!!
