My Melody

Chapter 1
My best friend has had leukemia for 1 year now. Her long blonde hair has faded away from all of the radiation. She lies in a hospital bed 24/7. No fun, nothing. I miss her a lot at school. I don’t have a single soul to talk to. But, every day I pay her a long visit.
“Hey Melody,” I said coming through the door.
“Hey,” she whispered
“How are you feeling today,” I asked?
“I guess I’m fine. I wasn’t feeling good earlier.”
“Oh,”
“Yeah…so how was school today,” she asked curiously
“Fine, same old.”
“Oh.”
I was glad I was able to cheer her up by just spending time with her. We just sat there talking and laughing.
“Hey, I have to get home,” I said in a rush.
“Ok…I will text you later.”
“Ok, I’ll see you tomorrow.”
I slowly left the room. I looked back. Melody was waving at a slow pace. She looked as if she didn’t want to be alone at the moment. Every day I dread leaving, but I have no chose. Having a friend that was seriously ill was the hardest thing I have ever had to deal with. We have been like sister since we were literally in diapers.
“Hey, honey,” Momma yelled as she heard me walk through the door.
